History
In 2002, the sixty-fifth Miss South Carolina State University, Kourtney J. Fulton, promised to establish a scholarship exclusively for students of SCSU. She created an organization named PAL-SAC(Preparing Adult Leaders through School and Community). With the assistance of dedicated PAL-SAC members, she raised funds for the first scholarship award.
The Kourtney Fulton Miss South Carolina State University Scholarship is a non-renewable $1,000.00 cash award.
After the passing of her late aunt, Mrs. Berneatha “Dickie” Brown, a second award was added in 2022 in her honor. She was a proud alumna of South Carolina State University from the Class of 1946.
Additionally, a third scholarship was added in 2024 to honor her late aunt and uncle, Mrs. Janie Fulton Wilson and Mr. Burns T. Wilson who were both professors at South Carolina State University.
Payments are forwarded directly to South Carolina State University.
